ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that two major development projects in Islamabad, the T-Chowk Flyover and the Shaheen Chowk Underpass, will be opened to the public in early December 2025.
During his visit to both projects, Minister Naqvi reviewed the ongoing construction work and expressed satisfaction with the progress. He was briefed by the Member of Engineering at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on the developments of the two major infrastructure projects.
Naqvi emphasised the importance of ensuring high-quality standards in the construction work and instructed that there should be no compromise on the speed or quality of the projects. He made it clear that both the pace and the standard of work must be maintained at all costs.
Regarding the T-Chowk Flyover project, Naqvi said 60% of the work has already been completed, and the flyover is expected to be open to traffic in early December. This project will allow passengers traveling from GT Road to Islamabad to enjoy a signal-free journey, which will significantly improve traffic flow and ease congestion.
"This project will be a key milestone in resolving citizens' travel issues. It is a priority for the government to reduce traffic congestion and improve commuting conditions for the people," Naqvi stated.
Naqvi also provided clear instructions regarding the Shaheen Chowk Underpass, urging that the project be completed within the next 30 days, with work continuing 24/7. He stressed the urgency of completing the project quickly, particularly to alleviate the public's difficulties during peak traffic hours and school timings.
"The Shaheen Chowk Underpass will be a modern development project that will set a new standard for the city’s traffic and commuting facilities," said Naqvi. The project is expected to significantly enhance traffic management and improve the overall urban infrastructure of Islamabad.
