Says Pakistanis value selfless service
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the occasion of International Day of Charity, has appealed to the nation to increase aid and support for flood victims.
In his special message, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan, along with the rest of the world, highlights the importance of social welfare, aid, charity, and mutual tolerance on this day.
He stated that Pakistan’s social history is proof that the nation has always been at the forefront of selfless assistance to others without any bias of race or creed. This spirit of service is not only part of our social and cultural values but also a bright symbol of Islamic teachings and our civilization.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistani volunteers and philanthropists have set high examples of humanity by providing practical and financial help to their compatriots during difficult times such as natural disasters, accidents, wars, or emergencies.
He expressed pride that due to the active participation of the people in welfare activities and donations, Pakistan is among the leading countries in charitable giving.
Acknowledging the services of philanthropists, he said that countless welfare projects—such as free medical treatment, food distribution, and ambulance services—are running successfully because of their donations, which stand as living proof of social welfare.
Sharif added that Pakistanis value selfless service, assistance to others, and participation in welfare work. He urged individuals, organizations, and institutions to strengthen this spirit further to build a society based on tolerance, sacrifice, and service to humanity.
He stressed that in light of recent heavy rains and floods, this social spirit of tolerance, aid, and charity has become even more important, as the affected populations have suffered severe losses to their homes, livelihoods, and livestock.
The Prime Minister said that the affected communities are in urgent need of food, shelter, and healthcare, for which the federal and provincial governments, the people, and the armed forces are jointly continuing rescue and relief operations.
On International Day of Charity, Shehbaz Sharif reminded Pakistanis at home and abroad to extend every possible help in relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood victims. He emphasized that by adhering to the spirit of tolerance and assistance, the nation can remain determined to achieve progress, prosperity, dignity, and a strong future.
