ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) released updated data detailing the human and material losses caused by ongoing rains and floods across Pakistan.

According to the NDMA, torrential rains and floods have claimed 881 lives and left 1,176 injured nationwide.

In Punjab, the highest number of casualties was recorded, with 223 deaths and 648 injuries.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 48 people lost their lives and 359 were injured, while in Sindh, 58 deaths and 78 injuries were reported.

Balochistan reported 26 deaths and 5 injuries.

The disaster has also severely affected Gilgit-Baltistan with 41 deaths and 52 injuries, while in Azad Kashmir, 37 people died and 31 were injured. In Islamabad, 8 fatalities and 3 injuries were recorded due to rain-related incidents.

NDMA further reported that among the deceased were 510 men, 134 women, and 237 children. Injured include 565 men, 289 women, and 322 children.

Additionally, 8,206 homes have been destroyed, and 6,180 livestock have perished due to the floods.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also issued a warning over a surge in waterborne diseases in the flood-affected regions, raising further public health concerns.
