DPM Dar arrives in Jeddah to attend key OIC summit on Palestine

JEDDAH (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has arrived in Saudi Arabia following his official visit to Bangladesh.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar will participate in the 21st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. The session will bring together foreign ministers and senior officials from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The meeting will focus on the ongoing Israeli military aggression in Palestine. Discussions will also be held on the proposed plans for complete military control over Gaza and the continued grave violations of Palestinian rights.

It is worth noting that before arriving in Saudi Arabia, Dar visited Bangladesh on August 23 and 24, on an official trip undertaken at the invitation of the Bangladeshi government. This marked the first visit to Bangladesh by any Pakistani foreign minister in nearly 13 years. During the visit, Ishaq Dar met with Bangladesh’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Touhid Hossain.
He also met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Mohammad Younus, as well as Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin, in the presence of senior economic and trade officials.

The spokesperson said Dar also held meetings with delegations from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizens Party. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the visit, including an agreement for the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
MoUs were also signed for the establishment of a joint working group on trade, cooperation between the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies, as well as between the foreign service academies of both countries. An MoU was also signed between the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), along with an agreement on a cultural exchange program.
