ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday condemned the Jaffar Express incident.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, the minister lauded the army for proving equal to the task of fighting against the terrorists and saving maximum lives.

“Army officials valiantly fought against the terrorists and ensured that minimum possible damage was done,” he said.

He hit out at the opposition PTI for creating negative propaganda and proving themselves terrorist apologists. The terrorists attacked and held up innocent people and the PTI remained insensitive to the situation and resorted to usual tactics, alleged Asif, who addressed the NA session amid opposition sloganeering.

He also had a bitter exchange with the PTI legislators.

JAFFAR EXPRESS INCIDENT

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Wednesday all the 33 terrorists were killed during the Jaffar Express rescue operation in Balochistan's Bolan district.

Speaking at Dunya News' programme On the Front, he revealed that 21 civilians had already been martyred before the operation began. The rescue mission concluded with the safe recovery of all passengers, though four FC personnel also embraced martyrdom.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that the final clearance operation was carried out with extreme caution and professionalism, ensuring no harm came to the hostages. The terrorists had divided the passengers into three groups, and the rescue was executed step by step.

The operation involved personnel from the Pakistan Army, Air Force, FC, and SSG, he said.
