PTI files a review petition against SC’s decision of Sept 30 in Election Tribunal Case
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Secretary General of Pakistan Tekreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court against the formation of election tribunals in Punjab.
Raja filed a review petition against the SC’s decision of Sept 30 which nullified the decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) about the formation of election tribunals in Punjab.
“It is the prerogative of Chief Justice to appoint judges in election tribunals,” the petition says.
The petitioner continued, according to the decision of LHC of April 4, registrar LHC notified six election tribunals but after the meeting of chief justice LHC and Chief Election Commissioner the names of appointed judges were taken back.
The petitioner took the stance that any meeting between the Chief Justice of High Court and Chief Election Commissioner could not change the election tribunals.

It is worthy to mention that a five-member bench headed by former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa issued a unanimous verdict on Sept 30, which annulled the LHC’s decision of appointing election tribunals in Punjab.
