KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Human Rights Commission has presented a report to the government on the matter pertaining to murder of Dr Shahnawaz on blasphemy charges.

According to a report, Mirpur Khas, and Umerkot SSPs and DIGs denied arrest of Shahnawaz. However, three officers confessed to arresting the accused from Karachi later on.

No technical assistance was sought from the FIA after filing of the case, the report stated.

The postpartum reports of the deceased were not presented for two days as the medical officer (MO) left for holidays.

It was demanded in the report, to form a joint investigation team (JIT) to identify the real culprits of Dr Shahnawaz.

It is pertinent to note that Sindhri Police claimed the death of Umerkot resident, Dr Shahnawaz in an alleged police encounter.

The mob set Shahnawaz’s corpse on fire on allegations of blasphemy when it was being shifted for burial.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah also sacked Mirpurkhas DIG and SSP.
