LHC’s Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan declares plea as inadmissible
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition contesting Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s appointment as the country’s deputy prime minister.
LHC’s Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan announced the verdict which was reserved on Wednesday.
The judge declared the petition as inadmissible and dismissed it.
Earlier on Wednesday, the petitioner requested the high court to declare Dar’s appointment as deputy prime minister null and void, arguing that the position does not exist in the constitution.
The counsel for the federation informed the court that Dar’s appointment was not as deputy prime minister but as a nominee. He added that according to the law, the prime minister could nominate anyone for any position.
The court inquired whether the deputy prime minister was receiving any salary, to which the state counsel clarified that he was only drawing salary as the foreign minister.
After the two sides concluded their arguments, the court reserved its decision which was handed down today dismissing the petition as inadmissible.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had appointed Ishaq Dar as the country’s deputy prime minister on April 28.
