Court summons PTI chief in marriage case
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Thursday summoned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman in connection with an alleged illegal marriage case.
The presiding judge, Qudratullah, issued a notice to the PTI chief, directing him to appear before the court on Sept 25.
Furthermore, the court directed law enforcement agencies to issue a directive to the superintendent of Adiala Jail, requesting him to ensure the presence of all relevant parties involved in the case.
Earlier in July, a district and sessions court in the federal capital had overturned a decision of a civil judge who had rejected a petition challenging the nikkah of the PTI chairman with Bushra Bibi.
Sessions Judge Azam Khan issued the detailed verdict, remanding the case back to the civil court. He directed the court to decide on the case keeping in view all legal points.
On May 13, Civil Judge Nasir Minullah declared the petition filed by Muhammad Hanif, seeking former prime minister and Bushra Bibi’s marriage to be declared illegal, inadmissible.
