14 killed, more than 60 injured as bus overturns in Kallar Kahar

Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and the injured to hospital.

KALLAR KAHAR (Dunya News) – At least 14 people were killed and more than 60 suffered injuries when a passenger bus overturned on the Motorway II near Kallar Kahar on late Sunday night, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the accident occurred when brakes of the bus failed near Kallar Kahar. The bus broke the road divider and collided with vehicles on other side of the road before it overturned. 

The ill-fated bus was carrying wedding guests from Islamabad to Lahore. Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and the injured to a hospital. Women and children were among the dead and the injured.

Rescue teams informed that three women were among the dead. They also said the death toll could rise as several injured persons were in critical condition.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his profound grief over the tragic incident and ordered the health authorities to extend all possible relief to the injured.

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf and Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani also expressed their deep sense of shock and shared condolences with the bereaved families.
