People disappointed with Imran searching for other options: Khawaja Asif

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said people disappointed with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan were looking for other political parties.

Speaking to media, he said eighteenth amendment to the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan holds government, and no one else, responsible for flour crisis in the province. “Punjab will witness a change, anyhow, if the ruling coalition has majority, why is it reluctant to obtain a vote of confidence”, he added.

Referring to Mr Imran’s old connotation about CM Elahi, he said Punjab’s “biggest dacoit” had to go and time would reveal who formed the government. “God may not bring a time when we feel the need to join hands with Mr Elahi”, he added.

He said he was unaware of the power-sharing formula [if the vote of no confidence against CM Elahi succeeded]. “I reckon we have ‘a lot of people’ [in our favor] in the assembly”, he added. Nawaz Sharif, he said, would return but it had nothing to do with the Punjab government.

Earlier, Punjab Assembly session could not take up the agenda to decide the fate of Mr Elahi as CM which led to verbal spat between treasury benches and the opposition inside the house.
