Refusing assent, Punjab Governor returns Local Govt Act 2021

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman on Saturday refused to give his assent to Punjab Local Government Act 2021.
The governor, who belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has returned the act and even provincial minister for local bodies failed to convince Baligh-ur-Rehman over the matter.
Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed said that the governor’s objections will be addressed and expressed confidence that the government will manage to get the act passed.
It merits mention that Punjab Assembly had passed the Local Government Act on September 14.
