Khizer Hayat, former Pakistani international umpire, dies at 86; celebrated for contributions to cricket umpiring.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former international umpire Khizer Hayat from Pakistan passed away in Lahore.
According to family sources, Khizer Hayat had been unwell for some time and was 86 years old.
He also played first-class cricket for Pakistan Railways and moved into umpiring in the 1970s, officiating in Test, ODI, and domestic matches.
Khizer Hayat supervised 34 Test matches and 57 One Day Internationals, and also umpired in three World Cup matches.
After retiring from umpiring, he remained associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB condoles the passing of former international umpire Khizer Hayat. He officiated in 34 Test matches and 57 ODIs from 1978 to 1996, including the 1987, 1992 and 1996 ICC Cricket World Cups.

The PCB expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former international umpire Khizer Hayat.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in his condolence statement, paid tribute to Khizer Hayat’s valuable services in umpiring.
Mohsin Naqvi said that the world recognized Khizer Hayat’s decisions during matches, and cricket umpiring will always be indebted to him. His contributions to umpiring will be remembered forever.
