ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner, Rear Admiral (r) Freddy Seneviratne, to discuss security arrangements for the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team.

According to a PCB statement, a detailed briefing was provided on the security measures in place. The High Commissioner expressed satisfaction over the arrangements ensuring the team’s safety.

During the meeting, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad. Mohsin Naqvi emphasised that the Sri Lankan players are state guests and assured that all necessary measures have been taken to provide foolproof security.

Following the security assurances, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board instructed its players to continue the tour. Sources from the board confirmed that any player leaving the tour prematurely could face a two-year ban.

The ongoing tour features a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, with the second ODI scheduled in Rawalpindi. Additionally, a tri-nation T20 series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe is planned following the ODI series. Earlier, the Sri Lankan team had requested to return home, leaving both the ODI and T20 series incomplete.
