Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf may be rested for the UAE leg to manage their workload
LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to finalize the national squad for the upcoming tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE, along with the Asia Cup 2025 lineup, once the team returns from its ongoing West Indies tour.
Sources indicated that the tri-series squad could see a few notable changes, with pacer Salman Mirza and all-rounder Ahmed Daniyal likely to earn recalls.
Senior fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf may be rested for the UAE leg to manage their workload, but are expected to feature in the Asia Cup. The tri-series squad could also be expanded to 16 players instead of the usual 15.
Opening batter Fakhar Zaman, sidelined from the West Indies tour due to a hamstring injury during the Bangladesh T20I series, is expected to make a full recovery in time for both tournaments.
However, all-rounder and T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan is unlikely to participate in either event as he continues rehabilitation following surgery.
The tri-nation series will run from August 29 to September 7 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Pakistan’s campaign begins against Afghanistan on August 29 at 7:00 PM local time, with each team playing the others twice before the final on September 7.
