New Zealand are hunting their first win of tournament after a crushing defeat against Afghanistan
TAROUBA (Web Desk) - The West Indies on Thursday beat New Zealand by 13 runs in the 26th Match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Brian Lara Stadium here.
Alzarri Jospeh was the wrecker-in-chief for West Indies who captured four wickets conceding 19 runs while Gudakesh took Motie three for 25 runs their four overs each.
Put in to bat by New Zealand, the West Indies scored 149-9 runs thanks to 34-ball unbeaten 68 by Sherfane Rutherford. Nicholas Pooran (17) and Akeal Hosein (15) were other prominent scorers.
For New Zealand, Trent Boult captured three scalps for 16 runs, Tim Southee two for 21 and Lockie Ferguson two for 27.

The team management have went ahead and made three changes to bring more balance in both the trades.
The West Indian skipper, Rovman Powell expressed his views that they too would have bowled first on winning the toss. The co-hosts of the tournament have won both their games and will be looking to ensure their qualification to the Super Eights with a win in this game. They are going into this game with the same side from the match against Uganda.
