Sugar prices in Pakistan have surged to Rs 220 per kg, with major increases reported in Lahore, Sargodha, Karachi, and Hyderabad.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – The price of sugar has surged to Rs 220 per kilogram in various cities across Pakistan.

According to documents from the Bureau of Statistics, sugar prices rose by Rs 23 per kg in Sargodha and Rs 5 per kg in Karachi and Hyderabad within a week, pushing the maximum price to Rs 220 per kg nationwide.

In Rawalpindi, Karachi, and Sargodha, sugar prices have reached Rs 200 per kg, while in Hyderabad, the price climbed from Rs 190 to Rs 195 per kg.

The Bureau of Statistics reported a slight decrease of 12 paisas in the average price of sugar per kilogram over the past week, bringing it down to Rs 188.69 from Rs 188.81 last week. A year ago, the average price stood at Rs 132.47 per kg.

The prices in Lahore have skyrocketed, with sugar now selling between Rs200 and Rs 220 per kilogram.
