ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government's debt has reached an all-time high, breaking previous records.

According to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the central government's debt surged to Rs70.362 trillion by the end of August 2024, marking the highest level in the country's history.

Between September 2023 and August 2024, debt increased by Rs6.39 trillion.

As of August 2024, the federal government's domestic debt stood at Rs48.39 trillion, while external debt amounted to Rs22.02 trillion.
