Pakistan imported food items worth $1.066 billion in the past two months
(Web Desk) - In July-August, food imports decreased by 18.15 per cent annually, while rice exports saw a 100 per cent increase, while fertilizer consumption recorded a decline during the first 8 months of the calendar year.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan imported food items worth $1.066 billion in the past two months, 18.15 per cent less than the $1.303 billion imported during the same period last fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the import of dried fruits increased by 88.24 per cent and spices by 59.05 per cent.
During this period, rice exports increased by 98.58 per cent compared to the same period last year, with 430,045 tons of rice exported, generating $272.057 million.
From January to August, the country’s urea fertilizer consumption was 4,208,311 tons, 3.9 per cent lower than the consumption during the same period last year.
DAP consumption was 796,853 tons, 11 per cent less than the same period last year.
